Teddy King

February 20, 1930 — May 28, 2012

Mr. Teddy King, 82, departed this earthly life on Monday, May 28, 2012 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center and entered into eternal rest.

Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Johnson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am prior to the service at the funeral home. At all other times the family will be at the home of Debbie Gamble, 3205 Wellington Rd., Dothan, AL. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS, 66675, or to T.A.P.S., 1777 F Street NW, Suite 600, Washington, DC, 20006.

Mr. King was born February 20, 1930 in Pike County, AL to the late Bernard King and Margaret Idella King Johnson. He served in the U.S. Army as a corporal from 1950 to 1952. Upon getting out of the Army he began Ted's Heating and Cooling in 1964, serving many customers until his retirement in 2001. After his retirement he continued to work in his clock repair shop, Passing Time, until the time of his death. He enjoyed staying busy with his clock repair shop and visiting with his family and buddies at the coffee shop, activities which brought him much enjoyment and contentment. Mr. King was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Billy King.

Survivors include his five children, Debbie Doug Gamble, Bobby Sandra King, Phillip King, Mike Sammie King, and Renae Patrick Anderson; he was the proud and much loved PawPaw to his many grandchildren, April Lamar Lyons, Lisa Taylor Nunn, Emily Gamble Granger, Hannah Gamble, Colby Jade Anderson, William Allison Anderson, and Crystal Jason Nevin and step-grandchildren, Eric Sondra Parnell, Derek Parnell, B.J. Tizzy Parnell, Alex and Austin Anderson, Carrie Jeff McDaniel, and Brian Kathy Hannah; PawPaw will also be greatly missed by his great-grandchildren, John Patrick Lyons, Ella and George Nunn, Olivia Granger, Noah and Jude Gamble, and Addie Anderson and step-great-grandchildren, Jackson and Mary Mathis Parnell, Kala and Jacob Baker, and Matthew and Zachary Hannah; he is also survived by the mother of his children, Maurine King Kirkland.

The family would like to thank the staff of Southeast Alabama Medical Center for their help and support during his hospital stay.
