Thelma M. Freeman

Thelma McWilliams Freeman was born March 3, 1947 in Selma, Alabama to the late Ollie McWilliams, Sr. and the late Minnie McWilliams. She was welcomed home with the Lord on May 25, 2010.

She confessed Christ at the age of 12 and was baptized at West Trinity Baptist Church, Selma, AL under the leadership of Rev. W. B. Stevenson. She later joined Mary Magdalene Baptist Church in Abbeville, AL and served as a member until her death. Thelma received her education through the Selma City School System and graduated from Hudson High School in the class of 1965. She attended Wenonah State Technical College in Birmingham, AL and received a degree in Barbering. She was employed at the Henry County Nursing Home for over 30 years. On August 19, 1967, she was united in marriage to the late Willie James Freeman, Sr. To this union three children were born: Tammy, Willie, and Tiffany. Thelma, a beloved woman, who had a walk with God for 63 years, is now resting in a heavenly place. Anyone that knew her will remember Thelma as a feisty, humorous woman who told things “just as they were”. She leaves to cherish her memories two devoted daughters, Tammy Eddie Truett, Montgomery, AL and Tiffany Freeman, Abbeville, AL; one loving son, Willie James Debbie Freeman, Jr., Abbeville, AL; two grandchildren whom she dearly loved, James Brandon Truett and Tamara Minae Truett; two sisters, Ollie Mae Haith, Burlington, NC and Mary Frances Carter, Birmingham, AL; three brothers, Frank Sarah McWilliams, Abbeville, AL; Ollie McWilliams, Jr., Selma, AL; Ronald Phyllis McWilliams, Selma, AL; two uncles, Johnny McWilliams, Selma AL and Governor McWilliams, Camden, AL; A special cousin, Maggie Shaw, Selma, AL. , 11 nieces and nephews, 14 great-nieces and nephews; one brother-in-law Wali Farid, Abbeville, AL. Faithful friends who helped her during her illness throughout the years were Faith Shaw, Godson-Winston Grace, and numerous family members and friends. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
