Mr. Thomas Bascom Duke, 82, of Pansey, Alabama went home to be with the Lord, May 7 2011, after a brief battle with cancer.
rnFuneral services will be held 2 pm Tuesday, May 10th at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Tate officiating. Burial will follow at Memphis Baptist Church with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. rnMr. Duke was born March 19, 1929 in Havana, Florida. He resided in the Ashford-Pansey area for the past 44 years. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Duke worked as a mechanic for Georgia Pacific for 25 years. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. rnHe was preceded in death by his wife, Annette Starling Duke, mother of their 4 daughters. rnSurvivors include his wife, Elnita Segers Duke; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Dennis McCoy of Knoxville, Tennessee, Teresa Darlene and Sonny Marshall of Cumming, Georgia, Janet and Scotty Rumley of Dothan, and Judith and Brad Kimbro of Ashford; 7 grandchildren, Avery McCoy, Wynter Manis, Autumn Romines, Lauren, Lindsey and Andrew Marshall, Ragan Garrett; 2 great-grandchildren. rnServing as active pallbearers will be Allen Sumner, Eddie Booth, Quincy McLendon, Fred Jones, Roy Evans, and David Watson. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Etheridge and Lawrence Mathis. Burial Date: January 1, 1970Visits: 1
