Thomas Allan Price

Thomas "Tom" Price, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2024, at the age of 76 in Dothan, AL. Born on May 20, 1947, in Decatur, AL, Tom was a man characterized by his selflessness, humor, and loving nature. His life was a testament to the joy and warmth he brought to the lives of those around him.

Tom is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Martha Price; his son, Matt Price, and daughter-in-law, Helen; his cherished grandchildren, Dylan and Isabella Price; and his sister, Mariann Cooper, and her husband, Stan. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews who will miss his stories and the laughter he shared. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Price, and his sister, Jan Price.

After attending the University of Alabama, he went on to earn a master's degree in guidance counseling, Tom dedicated his life to serving others. His commitment to his country was evident through his service in the Air Force for four to five years and his many years in the National Guard. Tom's passion for helping others continued in his professional life, where he worked in rehabilitation therapy for mentally ill young adults until his retirement. His compassion and dedication to the well-being of his patients left a lasting impact on the community.

Tom's interests were as varied as they were engaging. He was an arrowhead hunter, often accompanied by his son Matt, and he took great pleasure in sharing this hobby with his family. Tom's love for flipping furniture showcased his creative spirit and his ability to see potential in the overlooked, turning it into something beautiful.

One of Tom's most distinguishing features was his magnificent beard, which he wore with pride and became a beloved part of his identity. His talent for storytelling was unmatched, and he could captivate an audience with tales that were as entertaining as they were heartfelt. Tom's skill in woodworking allowed him to craft not only objects of utility but also pieces of art, each imbued with the love and care of its maker.

Friends and family will remember Tom as a man who lived his life with a sense of joy and generosity. He was always the first to offer help and the last to ask for anything in return. His ability to make others laugh, even in the most challenging times, was a gift that made him the heart of every gathering.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Tom Price will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

Military honors to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 11:00am at Sunset Memorial Park.
