Mrs. Tomiko Logan

November 21, 1931 — October 17, 2023

Headland

Tomiko Logan, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2023, in Headland, Alabama. Born on November 21, 1931, in Tokyo, Japan, Tomiko was a woman of strength, adventure, and selflessness, who touched the lives of many with her kindness and love.

Tomiko moved to the United States in the 1970s, where she embraced the culture and opportunities with open arms. She worked at Delco General Motors in 1974, demonstrating her hard work and dedication. Her journey culminated in the 90s when she became a proud U.S. citizen, a milestone she cherished deeply. Despite the distance from her birthplace, she always held a special place in her heart for her native Japan and its traditions, remaining a devout follower of Shinto throughout her life.

Tomiko was a devoted military spouse to her late husband, Martin Logan, to whom she was married for 57 years. She was a pillar of strength for her family, always putting their needs before her own. She is survived by her son, Tony Logan (Kathy), and daughter, Cassie Logan. Her legacy continues with her grandchildren, Cody Logan Ely, Ryan Martin Logan, and great-grandchildren, Callen and Caden Ely-Papa, and a host of friends who will miss her dearly. She is preceded by two brothers and one sister.

As a mother and housewife, Tomiko was the heart of her family. She was a constant presence at every event for her children and grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to show her support and love. Her interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. She had a passion for sewing, creating beautiful pieces that were a testament to her skill and patience. Her garden was a labor of love, filled with vibrant flowers and lush greenery that reflected her nurturing spirit. She also enjoyed traveling with her daughter, Cassie, exploring new places and creating memories that will be cherished forever.

Tomiko was a woman of many talents, but it was her love for her family and her selfless nature that truly defined her. She was always there to lend a helping hand, offer words of encouragement, or share a warm smile. Her adventurous spirit was infectious, inspiring those around her to embrace life with enthusiasm and joy.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Martin Logan, Tomiko's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the human spirit. She will be remembered not only for her accomplishments but for the love and kindness she showed to everyone she met.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 2:00pm in the Sunset Memorial Park Chapel.
