Tommy Earl Corbett, Sr., of Dothan, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2009 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center following a brief illness. He was 56.rnMemorial service will be held 2pm Tuesday, June 16, 2009 in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Full Military Honors will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park Pavilion with Robert Byrd directing.rnMr. Corbett was born January 29, 1953 in Houston County and lived the early years of his life here. Following his graduation from Lincoln High School in Palmetto, Florida, he joined the U. S. Army and served for over 20 years until he retired in 1991. Following his military service, Mr. Corbett worked with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Houston County Sheriff’s Office, the Dothan City Police Department, the Farley Nuclear Plant, and In-School Suspension at Dothan High School. Mr. Corbett was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner.rnSurvivors include his two sons, Tommy Earl Corbett, Jr., Oakland, CA, and Austin Corbett, Fayetteville, NC; his three daughters, Tanisha Corbett, Miami, FL, Ramona Lashai Travis Thomas, Jacksonville, AL, and Teresa Corbett, Pittsburgh, PA; three grandchildren; his brother, Robert Earl Myrna Corbett, Jr., Enterprise, AL; his four sisters, Jennie Earl Dorn, Maryland, Annie Johnny Blackmon, Christiana, TN, Jeannie Henry Stewart, Bradendon, FL, and Lillie Welch, St. Petersburgh, FL; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends also survive. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
