Tommy Hiram Lane

February 7, 1940 — November 19, 2016

Tommy Hiram Lane, a resident of Daleville, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2016.  He was 76.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Campbell and Rev. Edward Douglas officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1-2 pm.

Mr. Lane was born on February 7, 1940 in Elmore County, AL and lived the early years of his life there. He joined the US Army at age 17,  and was a Vietnam Veteran but also completed tours in France and Germany.  Mr. Lane served for 20 years in the United States Army until his retirement in 1977.  He would later work with Law enforcement in Dale County before becoming employed with Civil Service for 25 years.  He retired from Ft. Rucker in 2006.  Mr. Lane enjoyed spending time with his family and playing golf. He loved Alabama Football and was known as the "Roll Tide Man".

Survivors include his wife, Betty Lane; his daughter, Lori Joel Bass, Headland, AL; his sons, Mike Pam Vinson, Easley, SC, Phil Dee Fettig, Crawfordsville, IN, and Pascal Becky Fettig, Crawfordsville, IN; his 4 grandchildren, Holly Cole Graham, Easley, SC, Hannah Vinson, Easley, SC, Courtney Bass, and Brannon Bass, both of Headland, AL; his 4 great-grandchildren, Johnathan McCoy, Neil Graham, Ben Graham, and Katelyn Graham, all of Easley, SC; his sister, Bonita Lane; his brother, Jessie Lane, Jr; niece and nephew, John and Sherry.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Brannon Bass, Sam Gilmer, Ken Hammond, Tim Hammond, Cole Graham, and Ryan Campbell.

Burial Date: January 1, 1970
