Tommy Wells

William Thomas “Tommy” Wells, 66, of Dothan passed away October 23, 2016 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at First United Methodist Church of Dothan with Dr. James Sanders, III officiating. Interment will follow in Dothan City Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 10-11 am. Flowers are being accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Dothan High School Athletic Department, 1236 S. Oates St., Dothan, AL 36301, or First United Methodist Church of Dothan, 1380 W. Main St., Dothan, AL 36301.

Mr. Wells was born in Houston County and resided in Dothan all his life. He was a 1968 graduate of Dothan High School and graduated from University of Alabama in 1972 with a degree in Marketing where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Mr. Wells returned to Dothan and ran the family business, Consolidated Produce, Inc. for 24 years. Then in 1997 he became a sales manager for Nantze Springs until the time of his death. He coached the Peewee football team, the Bombers, volunteered with the Dothan High School basketball and football teams, loved to announce high school football games and talking sports on the Phil Paramore Radio Show.  He was an avid Alabama Football fan and served as a football manager under Coach Bear Bryant during his freshman year at Alabama.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Dothan, the Dothan Country Club, and past member of Houston County Rotary Club.

Mr. Wells was preceded in death by his parents Eldridge Wells, Jr. and Laura Cola Trawick Wells and by his brother, Eldridge Miron Wells, III.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Cynthia White Wells; his daughter, Allison Wells Adam Brewer, Hernando, MS; his grandchildren, David “Sledge” Taylor, Jr. and Thomas “Wells” Taylor; his sister, Barbara Wells Larry Pittman, Ozark, AL; his sisters-in-law, Nancy White Don Thompson, Savannah, GA, and Andrea White David Faulkinberry, Houston, TX; several nieces and nephews.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Gene Burnett, Robert Emblom, Gary Garrison, Tommy Peacock, Trot Carroll, Phil Paramore, Steve Kinsaul, Paul Zimlich, John Lewis Peacock and Malone Garrett.
