Trecy Ellen Caraway

March 30, 1937 — July 5, 2017

Trecy Ellen Caraway of Ozark, Alabama passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in a Dothan hospital. She was 80.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 4 pm in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Benji Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Chalkhead Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-4 pm on Saturday. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or a charity of your choice.

Ms. Caraway was born March 30, 1937 in Dale County and resided there all of her life. She attended Wallace Community College where she received her License Practical Nurse degree in 1969. Ms. Caraway was employed with Dale County Hospital, Dr. B.D. Petrey, Dr. George L. Andrews, and at the time of her retirement she was working at Dale Medical Center. Ms. Caraway loved working outside, was an avid gardener especially roses. She was a member of the National Association of Physician Nurses, Order of the Eastern Star, Kolb Chapter, and Southside Baptist Church.

Ms. Caraway was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Cullen O’Neal Caraway, her parents, 6 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Survivors include her daughters, Sheila (Eddie) Williams and Cathy (Gary) Tew; her 3 grandchildren, Kristie (Chris) Johnson, Mandy (Trae) Fennell, and Alyssa (Wes) Dean; her 8 great-grandchildren; her 2 great-great-grandchildren; her 3 brothers, Johnny L. (Virginia) Bright, Bobby Neal (Lynn) Bright, and Alvin L. (Becky) Bright; her sister, Mignonette (Donald) Woodham; several nieces and nephews.
