Truman Earl Aman

April 18, 1939 — June 9, 2014

Truman Earl Aman, a resident of Ashford, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014, peacefully at home with his family by his side. He was 75.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. at Dothan First Assembly, with Reverend Murray D. Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashford City Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary.  Flowers will be accepted or in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Aman was born April 18, 1939 in Houston County, Alabama, to the late Bennie and Hettie Aman.  He was a graduate of Ashford High School.  Mr. Aman was a faithful and loyal employee of the Wex-Tex Corporation for over fifty-three 53 years.  He was very active in supporting youth athletics in Ashford as a member of the Ashford Athletic Club and coaching several baseball teams within the Ashford Recreational Department. He also enjoyed playing organized men's softball.  Mr. Aman was a former member of the Alabama Army National Guard in Ashford and attended Dothan First Assembly.

Affectionately known as “Paw Paw”, he loved his family more than anything and they loved him.  He was passionate about Alabama football and was a faithful and loyal fan.  He made the world's best stew and boiled peanuts.  “We love you Daddy and we anxiously await to see you in Heaven to have the best homecoming ever.”

Mr. Aman is survived by his wife of fifty-five 55 years, Linda Anglin Aman, Ashford, two daughters, Allyson Johnson Dennis, Ashford and Lana Grooms Tim, Auburn; his son, Scott Aman, Ashford; his grandchildren, Josh Johnson Jennifer, Dothan, Brent Johnson, Atlanta, Trent "little buddy" Johnson, Ashford, Annah Aman, Atlanta, Ally Enfinger Trevor, Ashford, Hillary and Caroline Woods, Ethan and Tru Grooms all of Auburn; his great-grandchildren, Tucker and Charlie Enfinger, Ashford, Jack Sawyer Johnson, Dothan; one brother, Raymond Aman Jean, Ashford; one sister-in-law, Jean Aman, Ashford; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Aman was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Freddie Mae Bradshaw and Wilma Jean Kelley; brothers, Herman Virgil Aman and William Edward Aman. Serving as pallbearers will be his nephews, James Aman, Stanley Aman, Greg Aman, Phillip Aman, Stephen Kelley, and Randy Aman.

The family would also like to express a sincere appreciation to Dr. Thomas Brown and Dr. Steven Stokes and their staffs and for the care and support provided by everyone at Covenant Hospice.
