Vermel Watkins Carter, 79, of Dothan died Monday, April 18, 2011 at her residence.

rnServices will be 11am Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. John Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Enon Church cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. rnMrs. Carter was born February 4, 1932 in Houston County, and lived in Dothan all of her life. She was a homemaker and is the widow of Willie Frank Carter. Her favorite pastime was spending time with and taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and her son Billy Carter. rnSurvivors include her sons Timothy Carter of Dothan and Jimmy Wayne Carter of Dothan; a daughter Margie Kilty Terry of Dothan; 6 grandchildren, Jessica Bodiford, Misty White, Chad Carter, Chris Carter, Neachole McKlenny, and Heather Kilty; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bob Watkins, Robert Watkins, Grady Watkins, and Jamie Watkins; sisters, Shirley Moss, Mary Bruce, and Evelyn Watford; several nieces and nephews also survive. rnServing as pallbearers will be Kenny Moss, Ricky Watkins, Dwayne Watkins, Keith Reams, Jeremy Whiddon, and Terry Bruce. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
