Vickie Lynn (Rush) Rush

Vickie Lynn Rush, a loving, faith-filled, and adventurous woman, passed away on April 26, 2023, in Dothan, Alabama. Born on July 10, 1951, in Kentucky, Vickie dedicated her life to serving others through her work as a nurse and her involvement in her church community.

A joint celebration of life for Vickie and her life long friend, Celia Walker, will be held at Restoration Church on May 28,2023 beginning at 10:00 am.

Vickie pursued her passion for nursing at Wallace Community College, where she studied diligently and formed lifelong friendships. Her caring and compassionate nature made her a perfect fit for the field, and she spent 25 years as a devoted Labor and Delivery nurse. Vickie's colleagues and patients alike appreciated her unwavering dedication to her work and her ability to bring comfort and reassurance during some of the most challenging moments in their lives.

Throughout her life, Vickie cherished her church family and was an active member of her congregation. She found great joy in learning about her faith and eagerly shared her knowledge with others, often leading Bible studies and participating in various church ministries. Her strong faith served as an inspiration to those around her, and she was always willing to lend a listening ear or a helping hand to anyone in need.

An avid learner, Vickie continually sought out opportunities to expand her knowledge and grow as a person. She was a firm believer in the power of education, both in her professional life and her personal pursuits. As Albert Einstein once said, "The only thing that you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library." Vickie embodied this sentiment, forever seeking new information and experiences to share with her loved ones.

Vickie's adventurous spirit led her to explore the world and experience different cultures. She enjoyed traveling both domestically and internationally, making memories with her friends and family along the way. Her favorite destinations included Europe, where she immersed herself in the rich history and diverse customs, and the beautiful beaches of the Gulf Coast, where she would relax and unwind with a good book and a cold Coca-Cola, her beverage of choice. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

In her downtime, Vickie was known for her love of teaching, often sharing her wisdom and experience with others. She took great pride in mentoring young nurses entering the field, imparting her knowledge and expertise to help shape the next generation of healthcare professionals. Her legacy as a teacher and mentor will live on in the countless lives she touched throughout her career.

Vickie's unwavering love for her friends and family will forever be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories, laughter, and love, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of calling her a friend, colleague, or family member.
