Viown R. Mattocks Work

Viown R. Mattocks Work, Headland, AL, formerly of Bradford PA, was welcomed into Heaven on Feb 12, 2014.  She was 89.

Born January 31, 1925, in Short Track, NY, she was one of 5 children born to the late Charles and Margaret Mattocks.

On March 2, 1946 she married Dalton L “Lefty” Work in Olean, NY, who preceded her in death. God blessed this union of 65 years  with four children, Charles G. Work, Headland, AL, Dalton L. Work, Jr. deceased, Charlene Work Chris Bence, Headland, AL and Vickie Work Mick Murphy, Dothan, AL. Three granddaughters Jenni Nielson, of Concord, CA, Lori David Cagle, of Smyrna, TN and Shea Murphy, Dothan, AL. Five great grandchildren Whitney, Collette and Jaylee Nielson, Concord, CA and Skyler Dalton and Savannah Marie Cagle, Smyrna, TN.

Mrs. Work was a devoted wife and mother who lovingly attended to her family. As a faithful member of Hill Memorial United Methodist Church, Bradford, PA, she led by example in giving of her time and energy in worship and mission efforts. Always an encourager her desire was to uplift all those whose lives she came in contact with. After their health began to decline, she and her husband relocated in 2007 to Headland, AL and Mrs. Work became a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Dothan, AL.

In addition to her immediate family Mrs. Work is survived by two sisters Lucille Beatty, Olean, NY and Gen Silvis, of Coreyville, PA, a sister in law, Caro Lester Simonds of Bradford, PA and numerous nieces and nephews whom she adored.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm Sunday, Feb 16th at the Sunset Memorial Chapel, Midland City, Alabama, with Rev. Bill Bastien officiating. The family will receive guests one hour prior to service. Burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Cards and condolences may be sent to her family at 101 Lake Lane, Headland, AL, 36345.
