Walter Ronald Allen

August 12, 1948 — January 27, 2025

Walter Ronald Allen, affectionately known as Ronny to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025, in Dothan, Alabama. Born on August 12, 1948, in the heart of Alabama, Ronny was a man whose life was defined by his unwavering dedication to his family, his passion for his work, and his love for creation and music.

Ronny's journey began in Alabama, but his zest for life and entrepreneurial spirit took him to Florida, where he honed his skills as an electrician after graduating from Lake City High School and attending trade school. His career as an electrician was marked by a notable tenure in Florida, where he not only provided for his family but also left a legacy of excellence in his craft. Ronny's entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as he owned and operated Allen Blacey Electric, and in his younger years, he brought music and joy to many as the owner of the nightclub "Middle Earth" in Lake City, FL.

After 32 years of life and work in Florida, Ronny returned to his roots in Dothan in 2005, bringing with him a lifetime of experiences and stories that would captivate his grandchildren for years to come. His interests were as eclectic as his career path; he was an avid golfer, a master woodworker, and an electrical wizard who could build anything from scratch. His home was a testament to his skills, featuring a meticulously crafted train set and a treehouse that stood as a symbol of his love for his family.

Ronny's love for music was a thread that ran through his life, with the melodies of the Beatles, Elton John, and Grass Roots often filling the rooms of his home. His passion for music was matched only by his love for the great outdoors, where he found peace and solitude floating down the Ichetucknee Springs River.

Described as handy, loving, and selfless, Ronny was the epitome of a fixer and builder, not just in the physical sense but in the emotional and relational realms as well. He was hard-headed and stern, yet his opinionated nature was always grounded in a deep-seated desire to see his family thrive. Ronny was the rock of his family, a supportive presence who never gave up on them, no matter the circumstance.

Ronny's legacy is carried on by his loving family, including his daughter, Tracy Michelle Jackson (Billy Jo Brown), and son, Gregory John Allen. He was a cherished grandfather to Payton Jackson, Breeanah Jackson, Jareth Brown, and Silas Brown, and a proud great-grandfather to Jaylen Jackson. He was a loving brother to Kathy Gibson, Linda Atkinson, Mary Ann Dobbs, Joan Dicks, and Anita Cannon His life was further enriched by his special friend, Joan Allen. Ronny was preceded in death by his parents, William Harrison Allen and Myra Bell Sinclair, who instilled in him the values of hard work and perseverance that he carried throughout his life. He was also preceded in death by his siblings Terry Allen, Benny Allen, Robert Cannon, Timothy Cannon, Peggy Cannon, and Baby Allen.

As we say farewell to Walter Ronald Allen, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life filled with passion, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to family. Ronny's memory will continue to inspire those who knew him, and his life's work will stand as a testament to the man who could light up a room, not just with his electrical expertise, but with his vibrant spirit and loving heart. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Military honors will be rendered in the Sunset Military Pavilion on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 10am.
