Walter W. Rusty Ramsey

Walter W. "Rusty" Ramsey, III, of Raleigh, NC, died at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC on Thursday, September 29, 2011 after a long battle with heart disease.

rnFuneral services will be held at 2pm on Monday, October 3, 2011 in Midland City Baptist Church with John "Jack" W. Edge of Hillsborough, NC, Rev. Taylor Hodges and Dorothea Nunez officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-2pm at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Midland City Baptist Church, 1188 Hinton Waters Ave., Midland City, AL 36350. rnRusty was born on September 24, 1959 in Dothan, AL and lived his young life in Midland City, AL. He graduated from Dale County High School in 1977. Rusty is a lifetime member of Midland City Baptist Church. He is the owner of Ramsey and Associates Landscape and Irrigation Design of Raleigh, NC. rnRusty is the son of Walter W. Ramsey, Jr. of Ozark, AL and Ms. Winifred Richards Ramsey of Midland City, AL. His grandparents are Mr. Jeff Richards and Mrs. Lee Richards of Midland City, AL, W. W. Ramsey, Sr. of Brent, AL, and the late Mrs. Margaret Ramsey of Midland City, AL. Survivors include his son, Chad Ramsey and his grandson, Barrett Ramsey of Fort Worth, TX; his brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Sylvia Ramsey of Jacksonville, AL; his sister and brother-in-law, Angela and Christopher Orndorff of Fayetteville, GA; his nephew, Trey-Lee Orndorff and his niece, Annabella Orndorff both of Fayetteville, GA; and a niece, Christina Swope of Jacksonville, AL. Other survivors include his Uncle Dowling Richards and Aunt Pearl Richards of Midland City, AL, his Aunt Shirley Richards of Dothan, AL, his Uncle Phillip Ramsey of Panama City, FL, and Aunt Nona Ramsey of Augusta, GA; his cousins, Dr. Michael Richards of Crestview, FL, Sharla Richards Godwin of Dothan, AL, Ricky McClain of Midland City, AL, and Tommie Joe Richards, Jr. of Midland City, AL. rn
