Wayne Curtis Sigourney, 70, of Slocomb, Alabama passed away on January 14, 2020 at Southeast Medical Center. Funeral services with military honors will be held at 2:00pm Friday, January 24,2020 at Sunset Funeral Home with Charles Goldsmith officiating. The family will be receiving friend one hour prior to services. Wayne served honorably in the United States Army as an Infantryman, and later as a Special Forces Medic. He deployed to Vietnam and many other parts of the world. Wayne earned the Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Field Medical Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, and Special Forces Tab. His awards include a Purple Heart, two Meritorious Service Medals, four Army Commendation Medals, seven Army Achievement Medals, the Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars, and Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm. After his service in the Army, Wayne worked at Fort Rucker with Army Fleet Support where he retired with the highest distinction after 15 years. Wayne was a profound animal lover, taking in numerous dogs and cats over his lifetime. He was an avid motorcycle rider and Auburn football fan. He is survived by his son, Curtis Sigourney (Rachelle), and brother Bob Sigourney (Paula); his nephew, Eric Sigourney; his nieces, Kelly Sigourney Adamick and Melissa Sigourney; and his great nephew, Mason Adamick.
