Weldon Pierce Flatt

March 5, 1936 — September 21, 2021

Weldon Pierce Flatt, born March 5, 1936 in Star, Texas went to be with Our Heavenly Father on the evening of September 21, 2021 as a result of COVID at Flower's Hospital in Dothan.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Nell Flatt; son, Robert Flatt (Jana); daughter, Lisa Bone (Tommy); grandchildren, Troy Flatt (Alesha), Zana Arnold (Landon), Connor Flatt (Stephanie), Carrie-Grace Knight (Hunter), Logan Cantrell (Ryan), Zach Bone (Logan), Alex Wagner (Shelby), Jeremy Flatt, Stephanie Bates (Robbie), Amber Tucker (Lance); and great grandchildren, Payton and Reilyn Bates, Creed, Natalie, and Jude Tucker, Jeremy, Lily, Asher, and Easton Flatt, Ashlyn, Ella, Brady, and Cody Dilbeck, Grayson and Adelyn Flatt, Dawson and Wellslie Arnold, Hampton, Sophie, Weston, and Tucker Cantrell, Caroline Bass, Gage, Stella, Waylon, and (soon to be) Posey Bone, and Aurora Wagner.

Pierce is preceded in death by his son, Steve Flatt, his grandson, Zane Flatt, his brothers, Wyverne and Norvell Flatt, and sisters, Beth Phillips, Dorothy Jorgeson, and Faye Howard.

Pierce was a loving, hardworking, and loyal Christian. He was always helping people in need and never wanting recognition for any of it. If you had the pleasure of knowing him, you know how pure in heart he was. Pierce was born and raised in Texas where he started work as a mechanic. He joined the Army in January of 1956 and worked as a Supply Sergeant. Upon leaving the Army, he went to work as a longshoreman on the docks of Galveston Island. He started working full time at a bank and started college in 1967. By 1981 he was the President of SouthTrust Bank where he stayed until he retired in 1994. He was a chairman of United Way, Dothan Area Chamber, as well as serving the Kiwanis Club, Exchange Club, and Rotary Club.

There will be a private family memorial at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Dustin Zane Flatt @ Memorial Foundation Trust, C/O Westgate Christian School. Checks may be sent to Westgate Christian School at 617 Westgate Parkway, Dothan, AL 36303.

If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever." 1 Chronicles 28:9 There will be a private family memorial at a later date.
