Wesley Lamar Snellgrove

Wesley Lamar Snellgrove, a resident of Dothan died February 15, 2010 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 79.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Andy Bryan and Rev. Bill Bastien officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Tuesday evening, at other times they will be 1006 Northfield Circle.Mr. Snellgrove was born October 1, 1930 in Henry County and he lived the early years of his life in Headland. He married Betty Joyce Snellgrove October 7, 1950 and then he was drafted into the United Army during the Korean War. Mr. Snellgrove moved to Dothan in 1953 and where he owned and operated Snellgrove Construction Company until his retirement in 2002. He was a charter member of Heritage Baptist Church and a member of Men’s Sunday School Class. Mr. Snellgrove was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Betty Joyce Snellgrove.Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Ozzie Judah, Dothan; a granddaughter, LeAnn Judah McLendon and her husband, Josh, Greenville, Alabama; a great grandson, Sam Judah McLendon; a nephew, Buford Johnson and his wife, Emily, Panama City Beach, Florida.Serving as active pallbearers will be Jerry McKnight, Bill Smith, Hugo Griggs, Sam Moore, Derl Murphy and Charles Owens.Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s Sunday School Class of Heritage Baptist Church.
