William Gary Cain

William Gary Cain, 64, of Dothan passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be 1 pm Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Kelly officiating. Military honors provided by the U.S. Navy will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12-1 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Wiregrass Humane Society, P.O. Box 1045, Dothan, AL, 36302.

Gary was born March 21, 1949 in Houston County and lived most of his life here and in Dale County. He was a graduate of Dale County High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy following graduation. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served his country on the USS Enterprise. Gary was employed in hospitality management following his military service and worked for the Dothan Country Club as General Manager for several years. He was also employed with Larry Blumberg and Associates and owned and operated Gulf States Hotel Management. Following his retirement in 2007, Gary especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Billy and Dorothy Cain.

Survivors include his son Jason Heather Cain of Chipley, FL; grandchildren, Hannah Cain, Christien Cain, and Reed Cain; special companion of 13 years Susan Scarbrough of Dothan; sisters, Sharon Rodger Friend of Midland City, and Terri Marty Ogburn of Wicksburg; a special nephew Scott Williams of Dothan; numerous other nieces, nephews, family members and friends also survive.
