William S. Campbell

William S. Campbell, a resident of Dothan passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 84.

Memorial services will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity on Tuesday, May 28, 2010 at 2 pm with the Rev. Ede Plovanich officiating. Memorial services in Chattanooga, TN will be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 2346 W Main Street, Dothan, AL 36301.Mr. Campbell was born in Chattanooga, TN and resided the first 82 years of his life there, and graduated from Central High School. He worked for over 25 years at Ross-Meehan Foundries in Chattanooga and was an avid woodworker before and after his retirement. Many people have gifts from his craft. In 2007, he moved to Dothan, AL and became an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity.Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years Betty M. Campbell. He leaves to cherish his memory, his longtime companion Mary Gilbreath of Chattanooga, TN; three daughters, Kathy C. Brown Merwyn of Dothan, AL, Carol C. Stinnett Lynn of Knoxville, TN, and Susan Steffen Howard of Pittsburg, PA; two sisters, Christine Lewis of Chattanooga, TN and Ann Staney of Lakeland, FL; a brother, Bruce Campbell of Chattanooga, TN; five grandchildren, Tal F. Brown Tammy of Dothan, AL, Evan W. Brown Christina of Montgomery, AL, Zachary Stinnett of Knoxville, TN, Meredith Szczesny Steve of Tawneytown, MD and Karen Shetler Justin of Macungy, PA; six great-grandchildren, Brittani Mathis, Kaitlyn Brown, Micah Brown, Rachael and Paige Szczesny and Evelyn Shetler. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
