William Edward Glover, 84, of Dothan passed away Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.
rnFuneral services will be held 11 am Monday, November 7, 2011 at Evangel Assembly of God Church with Rev. Robert D. Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 3-6 pm Sunday at 3004 Bankhead St., Dothan, AL. Mr. Glover will lay in state from 1-5 pm Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Southeast Alabama Medical Center Cancer Center, P.O. Drawer 6987, Dothan, Alabama 36302. rnMr. Glover was born May 31, 1927 in Tuscaloosa, AL and lived the early part of his life in West Virginia. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and received his B.S. Degree in education from Alabama State University. He taught for several years in Samson, AL prior to moving to Dothan where he was the founder of the Head Start program. He later worked with SARCOA for 25 years until his retirement in 2000. Mr. Glover was Chairman of the Dothan Housing Authority Board, Chairman of the Southeast Alabama Medical Center Board, and member of the Vaughn-Blumberg Board of Directors in which he previously served as Secretary/Treasurer. He was a member of the Evangel Assembly of God Church. rnSurvivors include his son B’Journ Glover Sharon of Simpsonville, SC; a daughter Andrea Potter Jeffrey of Auburn, AL; 3 grandchildren, Patrick and Ryan Glover, and Sydney Potter; a sister Doris Bolware of Boston, MA; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. rnServing as active pallbearers will be Ron Owens, Sam Crawford, Ronnie Dean, Curtis Harvey, Chester Sowell and Darryl Mathews.
