William Macdonald

June 23, 1934 — March 20, 2015

William S. MacDonald, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2015 in Kosciusko, MS.  He was 80.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, March 28, 2015 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Oates officiating.  Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday one hour prior to the services.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church Choir Ministry, 3012 W. Main St., Dothan, AL  36305.

Mr. MacDonald was born on June 23, 1934 in Berwick, Pennsylvania.  He joined the US Army and served 20 years before he retired a Sergeant First Class in 1976.  He lived in several parts of the country and had three tours of duty overseas, the Panama Canal Zone being one of his favorite places that he resided.  Mr. MacDonald was later employed with Farley Nuclear Plant as a Nuclear Engineer for several years prior to his retirement.  He resided in Dothan for 30 years prior to Starkville, MS in 2008.  Mr. MacDonald was not perfect, but came to know God through faith in Christ and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Dothan, where he was a member of the choir.  Mr. MacDonald was also interested in astronomy, astrophysics and star gazing.  He loved hiking, long walks, and photography.  He loved to read, loved classical and baroque music, he enjoyed nature, but most of all he loved his family and spending time with them.

Mr. MacDonald was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Clara MacDonald, his parents, Col. Stuart C. and Stella MacDonald, his step-parents, Elisa Tinio and Don Woolley, and a sister Anne Denniston.

Survivors include his 2 sons, Steve and his wife HsiaoFang MacDonald and John MacDonald; his daughter, Linda Campbell; his grandchildren, Madison MacDonald, Michelle Kuriger, Christopher Campbell, Patrick MacDonald, Faith MacDonald, and Jeremy MacDonald; his 4 nieces and a nephew.
