William Reeves

William H. Reeves, 72, of Columbia went home to be with his Lord Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Henry County Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Don Tew officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Rd., Montgomery, AL, 36111.

Mr. Reeves was born May 10, 1940 in Geneva County and lived the early part of his life in the Malvern area. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served 20 years in the U.S. Navy as a Boiler Maker. He was employed with Michelin Tire Company for a few years prior to his retirement. Mr. Reeves was a devoted member and deacon at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Columbia, a member of the VFW and a Mason.

Survivors include his wife Mary B. Reeves; daughters, Donna Charles Polhamus and Diane Blackstone; grandchildren, Danny Kim Kirkland, Diana Tracy Driskell, Cody Blackstone, and Caitlin Blackstone; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mandy Irby Martin and Emma Spivey; sisters-in-law, Lois Len Moore and Charlotte Jack Clark; several nieces and nephews also survive.
