William Avery Shealey, a resident of Dothan, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at a local hospital. He was 75. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, July 29, 2019 in Sunset Memorial Park. Mr. Shealey was born on August 7, 1943 in Alachua County, Florida and lived there the early years of his life. He was a 1961 graduate of Santa Fe High School. Soon after his graduation he would join the US Navy. Mr. Shealey served in Vietnam and traveled the world. It would be during his travels to Japan that he met his wife, Setsuko. In the 1970's Mr. Shealey would be a Machinist Mate and in 1974 would return to the United States. Mr. Shealey would retire as a Senior Chief in 1984. He enjoyed fishing, wood working. Mr. Shealey was an artist and loved to draw with a pen and create cartoons. He also loved to go golfing with his sons. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Setsuko Shealey; his sons, Davey Shealey and Danny Shealey; his 4 grandchildren, Jatavion Shealey, Seargent Tyler Shealey, USMC, Shania Shealey, and Ethan Shealey; his 1 great-grandchild, Caiden Jackson; and a host of friends.
