Willie James Gibson

Mr. Willie James Gibson was called from earthly labor on Thursday, April 6, 2017 after a brief illness at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, AL. He was 82 years old.


He was born on January 9, 1935 in Barbour County to the late Alvin & Katie Gibson. He received his education in the Barbour County School System. He was employed with Pemco World Wide Air Service for over 30 years in Napier Fields, AL. He retired in 2000, soon afterward he started working at Alabama Clinics for the Meghani Family. He was a loyal and faithful member of the Bethesda Apostolic Faith Temple, Dothan, AL where he served as an elder and was a lifelong board member.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Essie Lee Gibson; two sons, Malcom Gibson and Chris Potter; siblings, Alvin Gibson Jr., Mary Jefferson, Katie Mable, Wiley Gibson and David Gibson.


He leaves fond memories with his two daughters, Sandy (Kelvin) Walker and Lisa Weatherington; his six sons, Eugene Potter, Roger Gibson, Ray (Muntunrayo) Gibson, Joe Gibson, James (Angel) Gibson, and Robert Gibson. He also leaves special memories with his two sisters, Robbie (Rev. Leon) May, and Lena Ludgood; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and coworkers; and he leaves cherished memories with his extended family, Dr. Shakir (Sakaina) Meghani, Rabab Meghani, Misbah Meghani and Husain Ali Meghani, who all loved him so very much!

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Sunday, April 9, 2017 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3pm to 5pm Saturday.
