Yvonne Speigner Smith

Yvonne Speigner Smith, a resident of Dothan, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Medical Center Enterprise. She was 83.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 3 pm at Christian Home Church of Christ in Wicksburg, Alabama with Minister Chris Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 2-3 pm on the day of the service.

Mrs. Smith was born on November 19, 1934 in Dothan, Alabama and lived her early years in the Wicksburg area. She married the late Lt Col (Ret) John R. Smith and lived in various places during his military career before moving to Dothan in 1998. Mrs. Smith was a member of Honeysuckle Church of Christ and the Military Officer’s Wives Club where she served as president in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Lt Col (Ret) John R. Smith; her parents J.T. and Lucille Speigner; a son, John Duane; and 3 brothers, Bradley Speigner, King Speigner and Randall Speigner.

Survivors include her son, Doug (Karen) Smith; her daughter, Lynn (Dennis) Odom; 3 grandchildren, Kris (Raechel) Trawick, Emily Smith and Chase (Chelsey) Smith; 5 great-grandchildren, Brantley Trawick, Ava Trawick, Kristopher Trawick, Roan Smith and Lane Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
