John Joseph Patterson

John Joseph "DOC" Patterson, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. He was 79 years old.

Funeral services will be held 3 pm on Thursday, June 2, 2022 Sunset Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services.

John was born on October 1, 1942 in Graceville, Florida. After serving in the US Army, he later moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he became an avid photographer, married, and had two children, John and Diane. He then became an officer for the Philadelphia Police Department for more than 15 years. After he moved to the Dothan area to take care of his mother. John was a loving and caring man who would help anyone in need. He enjoyed take photos and being a DJ for the local radio where he became affectionately know as "DOC". He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves to cherish his memories his children, Diane Patterson El and John Patterson, Jr.; his grandchildren, Robert Fortune, Christopher Fortune, Andre and his wife, Chancey, Fortune, Annika Watts, and Brianna Watts; his 3 great grandchildren; his sister, Mary Nell; and a host of extended family and friends.
