Cowarts

Weston Harrison Lewis, 20, passed away, untimely, on Thursday, June 13th, 2024, in a tragic farming accident while baling hay near the Ardilla Community in Houston County, Alabama.

Weston was born on March 5th, 2004, in Dothan, Alabama, the beloved third son of Judge Benjamin Lewis and Rebecca (Becky) Lewis. Raised alongside his brothers Marshall, Carson, and John Brooks on the family dairy farm, Weston developed a strong work ethic at a young age from working with the family, including his grandfather (Papa) Ray Lewis and Uncle Caleb Lewis.

Weston demonstrated exceptional capability and versatility. He could tackle any task on the farm, from tending to cows and calves to operating machinery and fixing equipment. His grandfather often remarked, "Weston could outwork two grown men when he was just 12 years old." Such dedication and determination defined his character.

Weston was smart. He officially graduated from Ashford High School in 2022, although, he actually completed his coursework more than year ahead of graduation, which allowed him to gain early admission to college. Weston pursued higher education at BYU-Idaho in Rexburg and Wallace College in Dothan, where he excelled academically.

Beyond his work ethic, Weston, who was physically strong, found joy in life's simple pleasures and outdoor adventures, particularly at the lake. He always enjoyed spending time with his aunt and uncle where he learned to wakeboard and wake surf. Last year, he even fulfilled a dream by purchasing his own boat, where he created lasting memories with his brothers, family, friends, and his beautiful girlfriend, Leah Adams.

Weston also had a profound faith in Jesus Christ and actively participated in early morning seminary in his youth with perfect attendance. His commitment to his faith led him to serve as a missionary in the Mexico Hermosillo Mission, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, further enriching his life with meaningful experiences and connections.

Weston is survived by nearly all of his immediate family, from his loving parents Benjamin and Becky Lewis, and three brothers, Marshall (24), Carson (22), and John Brooks Lewis (18), to his paternal grandparents, Ray and Beverly Lewis, and maternal grandparents Paul and Lynette Dent, several aunts and uncles, Jessica (Brian) Paramore, Caleb (Amy) Lewis, Dr. Rube (Christine) Lewis, Bethany (Josh) McPherson, Patrick (Denise) Dent, John (Jill) Dent, Rachel (Shane) Hamilton, and 25 first-cousins, the relationships he built will be cherished.

He is only preceded in death by his uncle, Lucas Harrison Lewis.

We, the Lewis family, have felt the comfort and peace from the Savior through all the prayers, service, and condolences of family, friends, and community from all across the wiregrass area, the state, the country, and around the world.
